Artist Spotlight: Julia Ilowiecki

Bio:

Julia generally combines a light melody with soulful words that make you want to blast her music through your car radio, roll down your windows, and sing along. With a slight rasp, her sweet voice soothes and refreshes the listener and her catchy tunes will be sure to get stuck in your head.

Julia unofficially started her music career as a child, bossing the other neighborhood kids into performing her songs. When her Mother’s friend gave her a used piano on her tenth birthday Julia sat there for hours and hours, teaching herself to play all of her favorite songs. She wrote her first song at age sixteen but had little time to develop this art as she was a competitive gymnast and then a diver for her Division one college team.

After an injury forced her to quit she was suddenly left with free time and she searched for a new outlet to release her emotions–and that outlet was music. Just as her some of her influences like Carly Simon and Sheryl Crow play straight from their hearts, Julia always tells an honest story with her songs.
